Spending the day with Artoor in a very artistic and eclectic part of Los Angeles, really made us forget that we were working. With elaborate art walls and statements on every corner, the location was a dream. The few hours we spent here during our session only reaffirmed my love for this diverse and vibrant city. The fact that Artoor was so extremely photogenic, allowed us to direct less, and converse more. Having such a humorous and entertaining subject contributes some comedy to the experience (which is always appreciated). One of my favorite aspects of photography is getting the chance to meet and get to know such interesting people. The fact that he trusted us with the styling and entire direction of the shoot was awesome. Artoor allowed us to throw out our often outrageous ideas without declining any of them. When my sister suggested he situate himself "comfortably" inside a shopping cart, Artoor proceeded as if our request was completely ordinary. We had a great time discovering the city, laughing, and taking some photos. Here are some highlights from our shoot. A few of these shots turned out to be amongst my favorite photos thus far. Thanks for stopping by...enjoy.

Lily
Less than twenty four hours before Lily's shoot, it was snowing in some parts of Los Angeles. Almost certain that we would have to reschedule, I was pleasantly shocked to wake up to a perfectly sunny day. With a clear vision of the style she wanted, Lily had great ideas and examples that added to the preparation of the session. The process before any shoot is almost as exciting for me as the session itself. Getting to know each individual gives me a better idea of where to get my inspiration. It's always intriguing to try and achieve a setting and style that brings out exactly what they want their portraits to reflect. Lily arrived completely prepared and ready to deal with some muddy (post-storm) circumstances with a smile! As an aspiring actress, she wanted new images for her portfolio. We had a great time getting to know Lily and trying to capture her sweet and calm energy in each shot. Thanks for stopping by...enjoy.

Anthony
Nothing represents the joys of childhood better than Saturdays at the park. I was thrilled to spend the morning with my adorable new friend Anthony. Naturally, in such an exciting place the last thing he wanted to do was sit and pose for the camera. I realized that I had to step up my game to keep up with Anthony's contagious energy. With endless equipment at his disposal and a cool mom who didn't mind a bit of sand, Anthony's natural excitement was hard to miss. I was sad to part with this happy little boy who had to rush to make it to not one, but two parties. However, I'm not surprised that such a sweet guy is so popular! I'm glad I had the chance to capture Anthony and his mom, in a setting that seemed so familiar and natural to them. I was also lucky enough to take pictures at Anthony's first birthday last month...check back for highlights from that fun day. Thanks for stopping by...enjoy!

Anais
With her high school graduation approaching, Anais and I thought it would be fun to put our own twist on the traditional senior portrait. This period right before college is an interesting time to capture, because of the ambition and hope brought on by the transition. The variety of expression in Anais’ session really reflects the crossroads between youth and adulthood. She had great ideas and was not afraid to display her individuality and authentic character. For safety purposes, I had to turn down her awesome offer to swing upside down from a tree. Throughout the session I couldn't avoid the nostalgia associated with this hopeful time. I faced the bittersweet realization that her graduation marks exactly a decade since I left high school (yikes)! When she looks back ten years from now, I hope these photos will help Anais hold on to the youthful and inspired energy she emanates today. Here are the highlights from our shoot. Thanks for stopping by...enjoy!

Narine, Melania & Natalia
Spending time with Narine, her two year old Melania and her newborn baby girl Natalia was truly a pleasure. Narine definitely has her hands full, but she makes it look so easy! Melania was an extremely cute and helpful big sister. She was excited to show her baby sister off! It was so much fun capturing the special time at home between Narine and her daughters. Melania was a great host and allowed me to snap some fun shots of her while she took a break from her big sister responsibilities and enjoyed the play equipment. Narine and her beautiful girls were incredibly sweet and great to work with. I was excited to spend time with the girls again, while capturing the special moments at Natalia's "Welcome Baby" celebration. Thanks for stopping by...enjoy!
