A Day in the Snow With Natalie...

It isn't often that we get to witness the first experiences of our little clients. So when we learned that our session with Natalie and her parents would be her first time seeing snow, we were thrilled.  While scheduling their holiday portrait session, Natalie’s mom mentioned that she would love to make a day trip out of it. We suggested that a day in the snow would be a fun shoot and something we have always wanted to put together. A couple of Sundays later, we set off on a mini road trip with Natalie. After driving around in search of the perfect location, we found our own spot in the middle of the woods with the whitest and most inviting blanket of snow. With a little hesitation, Natalie approached the unfamiliar yet intriguing setting. Merely a few steps away, I was there to capture each expression and new discovery. We couldn’t be more grateful to be a part of such a great moment. Spending this day with Natalie and her parents made us appreciate the fact that we have been a part of the milestones in her life since she was four months old. As one of the first babies I worked with, I am thankful to have been continuously invited to photograph their beautiful daughter. To her amazing parents, thank you for your continuous support. Natalie, I look forward to watching you grow. May your loving family have a holiday season that is filled with everything happy, healthy and peaceful. Here are some of the highlights from our day in the snow. Thanks for stopping by…enjoy!

Taline

Prior to the arrival of our delightful subject, we were introducing ourselves to the darker days of the Fall season. We agreed that the colorful crisp leaves were a reasonable exchange for the bright rays we were so used to...but we were still a bit unsettled in our negotiation. The second we met Taline, we realized that her radiant energy quickly made up for the Summer sun that usually accompanied us. With the absence of the bright light unnoticed, we began our pleasant session. After Taline warmed up to us a bit, we learned that "The Wheels on the Bus" makes for the perfect soundtrack for an eighteen month portrait session. Taline explored her surroundings as the doors opened and shut and the wipers swished. My sister dramatically performed the timeless classic on repeat and Taline loved every minute of it. She preferred the verse about the baby on the bus (for obvious reasons). This age is so much fun to capture because you are able to freeze the moments of excitement that babies feel about things that often go unnoticed by us. The simple sights of dogs, planes and children playing were so amusing to Taline, and I loved documenting this innocent sense of wonder. This little girl was an absolute pleasure to be around. Here are some of our favorites from this session. Thanks for stopping by...enjoy!

A Drop of Luck....{11.11.11}

As Leah let us know that she felt a raindrop, we realized that 11.11.11 really did bring us some luck. This courteous drop of rain made its appearance as I clicked one of my last shots. Like Nicholas and Leah's mom mentioned, this session felt more like a play date for all of us. We threw the football around with Nicholas, and realized he will one day be a star quarterback. According to his sister, and biggest fan, he will be playing for the Dallas Cowboys one day and she will be cheering him on from the sidelines. Leah wasn't short on talents either. She excelled at jumping rope and dribbled the soccer ball like a natural. Beyond their impressive talents, the most amazing trait these two little ones had was their obvious bond. They shared countless inside jokes and "secrets" that had them both laughing uncontrollably. We had such a blast hanging out with these two, that we forgot we were working. We hope 11.11.11 brought some luck for all of you...here are the highlights from our shoot. Thanks for stopping by...enjoy!

With Sincere Gratitude...

With Thanksgiving less than five days away, and the new year quickly approaching, my sister and I were inspired to piece together a montage in celebration of what we're most thankful for this year. We're grateful to have crossed paths with all of you who have invited us into your lives, and allowed us to document your special moments. While counting our blessings, a sincere thank you always goes out to those who have taken the time to express a kind word and support what we truly love to do. Every single compliment and referral is greatly appreciated. May you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving that's filled with love and gratitude. Enjoy...and make sure your speakers are on! :)

Posh Peanuts

From a day spent with six models just a few weeks ago, to a recent session with six more models of the smaller variety... we once again had to shift gears. With a different focus this time, my goal was to display the unique product in every shot, while keeping up with six adorable little girls. During portrait sessions, we like to allow the children to take the lead while we follow and capture what naturally comes about. However, when focusing on a product, the pace changes a bit. During this session, I had to capture the natural expressions of our tiny subjects while making sure the elaborate headbands and hats by our friends at Posh Peanuts were always clearly showcased. I love the details on all of these custom pieces! Make sure to check out the rest of their collection at the Posh Peanut shop on Etsy PoshPeanutKids.Etsy.com. Here are some of the highlights from our session...Thanks for stopping by...enjoy!
