A Merry Day at the Christmas Tree Farm...

On our way to the Christmas tree farm we had been looking forward to, my sister and I were discussing the unusual serendipity we've been experiencing since we started this journey together. Whether it's the perfect location we accidentally stumbled upon while trying to find our way, the thirty minutes of privacy in an impossibly crowded spot, or this time, a rusty red classic Ford truck next to a matching tractor...pieces of magic just seem to be dropped right into the sessions. Ironically, thirty minutes after this conversation, we discovered these awesome pieces and decided we'd shift our focal point. Luckily, Dante found the truck and the tractor to be just as amusing as we did. This handsome little guy is an old friend and was one of our first official clients just over a year ago! Dante and his parents invited us to take their holiday photos and trusted us even though we were just beginning our blog. My sister and I always have a great time with Dante and his parents, and always appreciate their creative ideas and willingness to go the extra mile (or twenty) to bring them to life. Here are the highlights from our session with a great family, a Christmas tree farm and a serendipitous Ford truck. We hope you all are having a joyous holiday season. Thanks for stopping by...enjoy, and be merry!

Making Memories at a Neighborhood Park...

A day after their family photo session, Maila and Kayla were going to go to Disneyland. Competing with the anticipation for such an exciting trip, we knew we had to work hard to make sure this session was fun for these adorable sisters. It's important for our portrait sessions to be an enjoyable experience for all of the families we work with. When our subjects are having a pleasant time during the shoot, it is definitely communicated through the photos. Maila and Kayla immediately made our job easy because they came with tons of energy, spirit and excitement. With an open field of grass around us, we all did a lot of running, laughing and playing. "Ring Around the Rosie" seemed to be a popular song that day. The girls especially loved falling down and bursting into laughter at the end of the song. We hope that they had a great time, because we truly enjoyed spending our day with the four of them at their neighborhood park. They were an absolute pleasure to work with! We are grateful for their kindness, trust and patience. Happy Holidays to this amazing family, the many great individuals we've been working with, and all of you who are following our blog (thank you). Here are some of the highlights from our session. Thanks for stopping by...enjoy!

Papeon and the perfect breeze...

It had been a few months since I had visited one more my favorite spots to shoot. I was pleasantly surprised that the location had undergone a few seasonal changes, creating the exact backdrop that I had in mind for this session. With a perfect breeze assisting us with some natural movement, I had a blank slate, neutral colors, three awesome models and beautiful hair accessories by Papeon to work with...it was a recipe for some creative freedom. It's always great to work with designers that have a clear vision for their photos and products, while allowing room for me to add my own flair. Being able to photograph a wide range of subjects, from babies to experienced models, pushes us out of our comfort zones and creates opportunities to learn and grow. Since we're learning something new from every shoot, various arenas expand the possibilities. For more information about these headpieces and to see more from Papeon, find them on Facebook! Here are some of the highlights from our session. Thanks for stopping by...enjoy!

Johnas Meza Design Project

Meeting people in your field who understand the language of your craft is always a treat. Having studied interior design and architecture, I was thrilled to team up with talented designers to photograph their amazing project. Tina Johnas, Talin Johnas & Noelle Meza are the trio that make up Johnas Meza Design. After meeting in college and later working together at the Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles, it was this collaboration and their shared passion for design that inspired them to form a partnership. With meticulous attention to detail, functionality and sentimental touches, this vintage carnival themed nursery was just perfect! Custom designed bedding, window treatments, and accessories helped bring this concept to life. The suspended hot air balloons, painted to match the color scheme, were hung from a cloud-covered ceiling, adding a creative twist. The custom wooden banners spelling out the the babies' names brought in a personal touch and tied everything together flawlessly. Here are some of my favorite shots from our session.
